TechSmith Relay Follow
TechSmith Relay is a video creation and sharing platform use to maximize student engagement in an online and blended courses.
A number of Verbit customers utilizes TechSmith Relay to manage their video content and request for captioning, especially those in the Education and Entertainment verticals.
Verbit supports integration with Relay site to automate caption requests for our customers using the service.
How to Set up TechSmith-Verbit Integration?
Stage 1. Locating the Integrations Keys in Verbit

Login to https://platform.verbit.co/

Click on the email address on the top portion of the Verbit page to view the Production API key value.
NOTE: TechSmith Relay can only support one API key at this time, even if you have established multiple projects with Verbit.
Stage 2. Profile Requirements
Each TechSmith Relay captioning job will be sent to Verbit with these requested turnaround time. Support must notify the CSM to create the relevant profiles for the integration.Machine-only captions

Stage 3. Webhooks URL
- Scroll to the bottom of Verbit API Integration page and locate Webhooks section.
- Replace the URL with the following:
https://caption.cloud.techsmith.com/api/v1/VendorCallback/Verbit -
Click SEND TEST EVENT button to confirm that it's working correctly.
Stage 4. TechSmith Relay Customer Success Manager
Once the above information are all done, contact your TechSmith Relay Customer Success Manager. They will setup the integration in TechSmith Relay app and schedule a training call to walk you through the Relay/Verbit workflow.
TechSmith Relay - Request 3rd Party Captions
Anyone within the Relay site can submit a request for 3rd party captioning if they:
- Own the video or
- Manage the captions (Caption Admins, accessibility assignees, etc.).
How to Request 3rd Party Captions from Verbit with TechSmith Relay?
Step 1. Click the Accessibility tab on the video view page.
Step 2. Under Accessibility, choose Select an Action > Request 3rd Party Captions.
NOTE: The above option is only visible in Relay sites with an active 3rd party captioning integration.
Step 3. Click SUBMIT to confirm.
TechSmith Relay - Approve / Deny Requests
Each 3rd party captioning request requires approval from either a Relay Site Admin or a Relay Caption Admin before the job is sent to Verbit. Admins also need to approve requests they’ve submitted themselves.
NOTE: Once a captioning request is approved and sent to Verbit, no further action is required.
How to Approve/Deny Caption Request with Relay site?
Step 1. Click on the ACTIVITY tab to view the list of request submitted for approval and 3rd Party Captioning, you will see the number of jobs awaiting approval.
Step 2. Using the buttons on the right side of the page, Admins can Approve or Deny individual captioning requests.

Admins can also multi-select video requests to approve or deny several requests at once.

Admin can provide a reason for denial if they decide to deny a single or batch of request from the video requestor. It will be included in the denial notification email sent to the requestor.
Optional Verbit Processing and Publishing
Verbit admins can upgrade the service level for the captioning job using the Verbit administration
dashboard (not part of TechSmith Relay).
- Your captions are automatically published on your TechSmith Relay video once the job is complete.
- The video owner receives an email notification after the captions from Verbit have been published.
- You may choose to review, edit, download, and re-publish the captions from Verbit, ifnecessary.
